Happy National Orange Juice Day

Today is the day! May 4 recognizes National Orange Juice Day, America’s most popular breakfast sidekick and the original wellness drink. For years, people have been waking up to a glass of orange juice and enjoying the health benefits it brings. One 8 ounce serving of orange juice has more than 100% daily value of vitamin C and also supplies potassium, thiamin and folate. What more could you ask for? Well, I’ll tell ya.

How Are you Celebrating?

Since it’s National Orange Juice Day I figured we’d celebrate with a fun day of eating because who wouldn’t celebrate by eating? And what if you created an entire day of food that was all incorporating 100% orange juice? Now, that’s cause for a celebration all on its own!

Here I give you an orange chicken recipe, a recipe for some refreshing orange Julius, and finishing it all off with the best orange cake recipe. This all not only sounds amazing, but is amazing your whole family is going to love it.

Orange Chicken for the Win

Lately I have been mixing up Florida Orange Juice into some fun recipes. Really, the orange chicken we made was so good I was thinking about making more the next day (grateful we had leftovers). It’s so simple, tasty, and I feel like it’s better than take-out.

This recipe was great too because right now it hasn’t been super easy to go to restaurants for orange chicken, but we made it at home and were able to put Florida Orange Juice in it. Honestly, it was so good and I really think you should try it out.

Great thing about 100% orange juice is that it may help your body absorb iron and other nutrients from foods. Plus, it can be a healthy addition to ay diet.

Remember Orange Julius?

Of course you do (I mean you should, I just posted a recipe last week)! But really, do you remember always drinking them in the spring/summer months? My family loved them and would always put orange juice in them because we drank so much of it anyways.

This became a delicious treat we may have had more often that I’d like to admit, but we loved them. For my family now, we have loved them since it’s started warming up outside and given us a fun treat to enjoy after going on a walk, playing baseball in the backyard, or playing on the slip-n-slide.

Really, what I love about this is we are getting vitamin C into our diets, but sweetening it up just a bit. Did you know that one 8-ounce glass of 100% orange juice is equal to one cup of fruit? And, the nutrients and antioxidants found in 100% orange juice can help maintain healthy skin, which everyone wants!

Lets Eat Cake!

When it comes to cake there is one thing it has to have for me to love it. I know you’re going to hate me, but it has to be moist. Get ready for the best, easiest, most perfect orange cake you will have try in your life.

This is a moist, mouth-watering orange cake that will make you reach for the second slice in seconds! I have had many orange cakes before, but this orange cake recipe stands out, and it’s for a good reason. The orange flavor is perfect, and the cake batter comes together so quickly! And it’s so simple to make even I could do it.

A cake isn’t easy if you have to use a lot of ingredients, and this one fits that perfectly with a yellow cake mix, oil, 100% orange juice, instant lemon pudding, eggs, and lemon extract. I can’t tell if it’s the cake or the glaze I love more, but believe me when I say this—it’s amazing!

Hope you enjoy these recipes on National Orange Juice Day and let us all raise a glass to those that are sacrificing so much for us and our health. Florida Department of Citrus  is dedicating National OJ Day to those on the frontlines (healthcare professionals, sanitation workers, grocery store cashiers, etc.) providing essential services during this time. We all thank you so much for your hard work and know that we are all grateful for everything you are doing for all of us.
