Indoor Camping | Indoor S’mores

Growing up we would go camping every summer for a week or two. Add scout camps and I think I just went camping way too much in my childhood. Basically, what I am saying, I just don’t like camping. That being said, I do love s’mores and I had to figure out a way to still enjoy these treats without having to smell like campfire.

indoorsmores4As we all do when we want a new idea for making something delicious we turn to Pinterest. I had found many ideas to making indoor s’mores, but they just weren’t cutting it for me. I needed something more and decided to mix a few ideas I found, but added my own little mix to it.

indoorsmores3You will find campfire cones and making them at home is just as easy. Adding chocolate and marshmallows to a waffle cone is simple and super delicious, just know you don’t want to cook it for too long. I first put them in the oven for 10 minutes and it was clearly too long. The marshmallow had completely melted and was almost dissolved. Granted, it was still good, but it wasn’t exactly what I was looking for.

indoorsmores2I decided I could try again, but only baked it for five minutes. This worked perfect, slightly melting both chocolate and marshmallow perfectly. Then I removed them from their tinfoil and broiled for a minute giving the marshmallows a perfect toasting.

indoorsmores1These were great because you can give the cone to your kid and the mess is minimal. My son was able to hold his own cone, eat it in enjoyment and there was little to no mess. All that and we didn’t have to spend the entire day smelling like campfire.

So if you’re like me and not a fan of camping, but love a good old fashion s’more you need to try out these cone s’mores and let me know what you think. Enjoy!
