I Never Thought I’d Say This

At what age is it not okay to play April Fools pranks on others? I really feel like it is fun to play pranks on others, but now that I have a son my views have changed. Don’t get me wrong; once he is older I will prank him like crazy, at least I say that now.

I feel like this moment in my life though I am in between stages and not really wanting to deal with karma in the future. It’s weird too because I have always been the one to prank, especially when it comes to my mom.

Every year my mom gets me pretty good with a classic phone call saying something crazy has happened. She tends to be pretty clumsy and so when she calls me and tells me that she fell and is laid up in bed for a while it’s very believable. She likes to go far enough that you’ll believe it, but not too far that you know she is joking. She’s great!

At the same time I get her back too. She knows that any call I give her about on April 1st isn’t real, so I always go to the classic pranks, like putting a mannequin head in the fridge/cupboards. She never remembers that we have one and it freaks her out all the time. Hilarious!

Of course when you have roommates or access to friends’ homes you can pull the old Saran Wrap on the toilet, Jolly Ranchers or bouillon cubes in the shower head, or messing with their food.

But at this point in my life I think I am finally going to have to retire my pranks and crazy antics. I get so crazy when it comes to my little family and if anything happened to my son or wife I would flip. So if anyone thinks they’re going to be funny and call me to let me know something has happened to either of them just know, I don’t get mad….I get even.
