Quarantine has been such an interesting time. Working from home with homeschooling and four kids has been a fun addition to my daily routines. And trying to manage a household and keep my fitness and wellness in track hasn’t been easy, but I’m doing it! Here is my fitness and wellness routine during this crazy time and how I have added Florida Orange Juice to my day.
At Home Fitness
Working out at home is difficult. But it’s all about having a routine and a plan for what you are wanting to achieve. Together, Emily and I made a plan to workout and motivate each other. Getting up early and working out together became a regular morning routine for us.
Here, it’s easier for us to workout earlier because working out with kids around is difficult. We’d wake up, do an online workout that we’d sync onto the tv, and get moving. Of course, we had times where we each would have to figure out our own exercise plan because the kids would wake up with us, but as long as we moved it made our days so much better.
No matter your workout (at home, the gym, or outside) you need to watch your nutrition intake. Being at home so much, it’s easier to grab snacks that aren’t the best choice because they’re accessible. Every day I hit a wall around 3:00 pm and need a simple boost of energy.
Do you ever think of drinking Florida Orange Juice when it comes to a simple energy boost? Whenever I think of OJ, the first thing that comes to mind is vitamin C, but there are so many more benefits that it brings. When you drink 100% orange juice, you get all its health benefits:
- Thiamin, bringing you that crucial energy metabolism for cell growth, development, and function
- Providing hydration with it’s high-water content, 100% orange juice helps keep you more hydrated
- Magnesium which plays an important role in helping generate energy, as well as maintaining normal blood pressure, heartbeat, and nutrient levels
- Antioxidants in orange juice being vitamin C (of course), carotenoids, and flavonoids. These all provide powerful antioxidant properties.
- Hesperidin, a flavonoid found in orange juice that may have powerful antioxidant properties to help your body
What Is Hesperidin?
Flavonoids, such as resveratrol in red wine or catechin in green tea are great for health. Hesperidin is the flavonoid concentrated in the peels of citrus.
Hesperidin has been shown in clinical studies to have antioxidant properties, which help protect the body’s cells against damage caused by free radicals. It has also been linked with benefits like cardiovascular health, cognitive function, immune system function, reducing inflammation, and more.
By drinking 100% orange juice you can dramatically increase the amount of hesperidin and other beneficial phytonutrients extracted from the peel of the orange during the commercial squeezing process. In fact, 100% orange juice has been shown to have higher available amounts of beneficial flavonoids than whole oranges, homogenized whole oranges, or fresh pressed orange juice. So getting in that 8 oz a day is beneficial during this time especially.
Current Fitness and Health Routine
Thankfully, here in Utah we have moved from red, orange, and now yellow when it comes to quarantine. This means more gyms are open and I can get out and really focus on my fitness.
For me, having the routine of daily exercise helped me stay sane while being stuck at home. I need to move. I need to be told how to move. And I thrive when I have a guide to help me be successful.
I am focusing on health even more with tracking my nutrition right now. I have really focused on getting in 8 oz of Florida Orange Juice at 3:00 pm every day to give me a healthy boost of energy. I have replaced my random cravings with a delicious glass of orange juice. Not only does it taste great, but it gives me the nutrition I need.
For me and my family, it’s been really important to do everything we can to have a strengthened immune system and watching our nutrition during all that’s currently happening. Drinking Florida Orange Juice has been a simple addition to the overall wellness of our home. With family at high risk for getting sick, we take this all very serious and want to do whatever it takes to stay healthy.
