The “Five Minutes” Challenge

Do you have a busy child that is always on the move? Do your children ever just get on your nerves? Five minutes! That is the answer. I promise it works! Anytime my son is acting out or needing attention which typically gets on my nerves I have found that five minutes is all that he needs.

When I stop whatever I’m doing and give him my undivided attention for at least five minutes. It usually ends up that I am playing for a lot longer, but tell yourself it’s only 5 minutes. You can do anything for that long!

Maybe sometimes my son is bored acting out, that’s when I’ve found he needs attention. I have come to cherish my daily doses of five minutes with each of my children. It’s important to have multiple sessions with each of them, and have found that my wife functions better if I do the same for her.

Nothing new or complex here, but it’s a total game changer in our family. You don’t have time to give your children 100% of your attention all day everyday or your laundry, dishes, cleaning, shopping, errands and cooking would never get done.

Just setting aside 5-10 minutes of your undivided time and attention where your child can direct the play. We’ve began to see immediate results and you will have more patience and love towards your children. Also, you will be able to sense the need for one on one time and intervene before either one of you explodes.

These five minutes will save your sanity and build the strongest relationships with your children and spouse. I dare you to give it a try.
