Trying to be healthy with a young family can be difficult. I have been waking up early to get to the 5:30 am spinning class at the gym so that I don’t miss out on any time with my family. It’s fine, but I feel like it’s time to get the entire family out of the house and start going on bike rides. Isn’t it funny the difference from working out in the gym and working out outside? And a bike ride with the kids makes it so much better.
Growing up, I remember when the spring/summer months came along I knew that meant that we were going to go on a bike ride with my mom. I would sit in the back on a bike seat and she would ride for hours. These were always fun adventures where we would ride up and down the canal roads seeing ducks and enjoying the fantastic weather Utah has to offer that time of year.
I remember thinking, “When I have kids I can’t wait for the those days when I get to take them out on a fun bike ride like the ones I had grown up on.” Now, that being said, I am not a biker. I mean I have been doing spinning classes for years, but that is completely different than being out on a street biking for miles along the mountains. Thankfully, I have gotten my hands on a bike that can not only get me out of the house to exercise, but will also pull my kids and now we will do it in style.
Columbia Bicycles have been around for years. Back in 1877, Columbia started selling bicycles before any other company in the USA. So I would say that gives them a little klout in the industry. Alexander Pope was the founder of the company and he was a mentor to Henry Ford in manufacturing. Columbia was an early automobile manufacturer and created spin-off car-makers Chrysler Motors and the American Motor Company. Columbia invented the tandem bicycle, a bicycle built for two, expertly capitalizing on their engineering superiority. During the 1950s, Columbia bikes were everywhere. The “Newsboy” special buzzed around each American town giving kids the freedom to ride and see the world.Well, it’s time to bring this classic bike back.
I love the comfort in the seat (which is Columbia embossed) because I will tell you those thin little seats that are on most road bikes are not comfortable and if I’m wanting to just ride around with the kids in tow I don’t need to be uncomfortable. Thankfully though, I have a beautiful Columbia 700c Cruiser bicycle, the Columbia 700c Streamliner Deluxe Bike, with a preferred Shimano 7-Speed shifter and derailleur making my life pulling up and down the hills around here easier. Not just that, but with the aluminum frame it makes it super easy to transport it if we plan to take it for rides to destination sites. The front and rear steel fenders are fantastic eliminating my worry of riding though a puddle and splashing myself or my kids.
Plus, I am one that doesn’t want to be riding around on a bike that looks ridiculous and the vintage style look Columbia works great for my style and my life. I really just want to ride around town with my kids in comfort and style, enjoying the exercise and amazing surroundings we have here in Utah. The sturdy rear cargo rack makes for a great place to carry your picnic, blanket and other items your going to take to the park with you on your fun journey.
I love that I am able to bike around for pleasure because I am riding in style and enjoying the exercise I am getting. Seriously, the Columbia bike is so comfortable and makes me want to ride everywhere now. You can get the Columbia 700c Streamliner Deluxe Bike on Amazon or at Walmart. There is no reason why you can’t get yourself one because you can even order them online. Be sure to check Toys R Us, Target, Amazon, Walmart and Dicks retailers where Columbia Bicycles can be found!
