Baseball – Boot – Boat

When it comes to shoes I have a tendency to get a little out of control. I mean, I own over 50 pairs of shoes. Now I don’t expect every dad to own that many, but I do expect every dad to own at least three pairs of these must have shoes.

So, without hesitating, here they are:

1. The classic Chuck Taylors by Converse.

The great thing about these shoes is that they are classic, go with everything, and you can wear them with anything depending on what you’re going for: a suit, jeans, or shorts. Plus, they aren’t expensive: $44.95 at Nordstrom.

2. A boot.

This is where you need to spend your money. Buy yourself one nice, classic, well constructed boot. It can be any brand you want: Frye (as seen here), Red Wings, or my new favorite brand Love Jules. All of these boots have amazing construction which makes them last forever, but because of that they gain character and personality as you wear them.

3. The boat shoe.

The great thing about boat shoes is that once you buy one pair, you’ll want to buy more. You can keep it simple and classic with a basic brown pair or be like me and buy them in any and every color that’s out there. Personally, I am a fan of Sperry Topsiders, but you really can find boat shoes by anyone.

Any and every dad should own all three of these because they’re simple, classic, and they can go with everything you already own…hopefully. So make your wife’s day and go shoe shopping with her, but this time it’s for you.
