Back on the Bandwagon

The hardest thing about going on a vacation is coming back from vacation. Before we left I was such a die hard exercise freak, but also I was following the 17 Day Diet to a T. Lets be real, it isn’t the hardest diet in the world. As a matter of fact, I felt like it was becoming a lifestyle and I really enjoyed it. So what happened?

Well, you go on vacation you don’t want to be the party pooper where everywhere you go to eat you are only eating salad. I just didn’t want to care. Not only that, but we were staying in a condo with my parents. They are super healthy and it was great, but we had lots of snacks and treats around the place: fruit snacks, granola bars, chips, etc. It was so hard to not just grab a few chips, and by a few I really mean the whole bag.

Then when we get home I had gotten back to the old ways. I craved donuts and may have had a dozen…in one sitting. Then my little family got sick and there wasn’t ever really time to make dinners or lunches for work the next day. That meant that I was going out to lunch a lot and clearly I didn’t want to go back to the hard core healthy eating again.

With just a couple weeks back to my old ways I definitely noticed a difference. I just feel super tired all the time, my stomach hurts and I don’t feel very good, and I am starting to get a little gut again. The other day my wife said, “It’s time to start eating good again because your stomach is coming back.” That was just what I needed. Sometimes I need a little slap in the face to get me back on the bandwagon.

I have decided that I am going to sign up for a couple races (a triathlon and half marathon) that I have to work for and will keep me motivated. I just like to have a goal that I am working towards, something to give me a little motivation so that I don’t cave and go back to binge eating.

Now I don’t have a recipe for you today, but get ready. I will be having plenty to come (especially 17 Day Diet recipes). This diet/lifestyle change really works. I know it. And I love telling everyone about it because I have never been more happy with my results ever and once you get past the first 5-7 days you’ll kill it. I’m here to help you through this and together we’ll look amazing!
